A Wall Mounted Electric Fireplace – Worth The Investment

Posted in Fireplace Screens by Joseph Anderton

A wall mount electric fireplace is an easy way to get the warmth and attractive accent a traditional fireplace would provide, but without the mandatory care and other worries that they are plagued with. Not only that, a wall mounted model allows you to place it anywhere in your house, even in crowded or stuffy rooms, and still have space available for other items. This is a great source of motivation for anyone who wants a fireplace, but simply does not have the space to be able to have a chimney built.

Besides the pluses mentioned above, a wall mount electric fireplace is also much cheaper to install than a wood-burning fireplace. It only needs to be plugged in and hung on the wall — that\’s it. The heat that the unit gives off is controlled by the user. This is much simpler than the log alternative, which requires a ridiculous amount of work to be installed: walls torn out, the chimney to be laid, part of the roof taken up. To some getting a log fireplace installed might not be worth the effort it takes to get it installed.

Mostly due to the installation costs, a traditional model of fireplace is usually much more expensive than an electric model. Wall mounted electric models are especially cheaper as they are generally smaller than a floor-based unit. It is even possible to purchase a wall mount electric fireplace unit that is as small as a medium-sized picture frame, which is even cheaper.

One of these models also functions as a mini-heater. As opposed to having to cut, load, and ignite logs like you would with a traditional fireplace, all that needs to be done is switch the unit on and choose the temperature. This is a great feature for any homes that do not want to put in a lot of money on heating during the winter, as electric fireplaces take up very little heat to function and heat a medium-sized room.

If you have never seen an electric fireplace, then you may not know that they look like authentic traditional models. When on, it looks like there are logs inside and they are on fire like they would in real fireplaces. If you want that fireplace feel but not the fireplace heat in the warmer seasons, most models also give you the ability to turn on the display without turning on the heat. So unlike log models, you can get that warm glow even if it is warm outside.

There are a large amount of benefits to electric fireplace models to take into consideration if you are considering getting a fireplace but are not sure about it. A wall mount electric fireplace also offers that same trademark feel, without the space hogging that is normally needed to have one set up.

Everyone has sat down next to a burning fireplace, and it\’s true that it is a good feeling, but for some homes getting one put in is impossible. A fireplace that is electric is more than a decent alternative, and it can even save you a little money.

Types Of Fireplaces

Posted in Fireplace Screens by Mark Walters

Gas fireplaces are very modern and have definite advantages. They provide the heat, of more traditional fireplaces, without nearly as many of the hassles. Because they use gas, it is unnecessary to go through all the labors of splitting, storing and transporting wood. Also, since gas does not produce any soot or dirt wood, they do not need to be cleaned after being used.

Gas fireplaces are also easy to install. Since they can be installed with little more than a cut in a wall for exterior venting, they are some of the easiest fireplaces to set up. To get the feeling of having logs on the fire, gas fireplaces now have ceramic logs that closely resemble real wood logs burning. While this is not for everyone, many people are willing to sacrifice some of the realism for the convenience that a gas fireplace offers.

For people who want the real thing, nothing equals the feeling of seeing real logs burning in a fireplace, and charm and appeal that comes with it. Traditional fireplaces are usually made from brick, mortar, marble or stone, and the openings of these fireplaces are covered with glass or metal.

These fireplaces can be expensive to install and may take up a significant amount of space. However, their look and feel can really add a lot to the room and the experience of sitting around the fire. Traditional fireplaces also have the advantage of not using fossil fuels. For those with access to plentiful supplies of wood, they can be a great money saver. Still, they are actually not very energy efficient and steps should be taken to improve efficiency. For example, glass doors will keep warm air in and radiate heat from the fire out.

Cast iron fireplaces are able to be used as inserts in traditional fireplaces or stand alone fireplaces. As cast iron is very sturdy, it can take a lot of use and abuse before needing to undergo any maintenance. Additionally, these fireplaces can be configured to use wood or gas depending on the needs of the owner. They come in various sizes and are available in both indoor and outdoor models.
